Discover voices hidden in nature, huge hearts, and more.
Hi, I’m Stephanie! I’m a certified CA Naturalist and the author of “The Perfect Place,” “El Hugar Perfecto” in Spanish, and “The Tiny Dog With The Huge Heart.” I began writing as early as I can remember. I even have a box full of poetry that holds poems from back when I was in elementary school. And since then, writing has been a thread for me throughout my personal and professional life in some form or another.
Although I am no longer formally in the classroom, I continue to teach and guide students. As an author, I have the ability to do so in a different way, perhaps on a much bigger scale. It is an exciting, creative endeavor for me. I’m happy to have you here, to experience and explore what and why I write!

Thank you so much for today, the break in my “own world” was refreshing and listening to you talk about the monarchs was totally cool! I learned a TON! Also, visiting the grove with your eyes made it a very new experience for me, I’m very grateful for that experience. You can lead my nature walk any time! Let’s do one again….whenever you can, I really enjoy being with you in your element!

My Projects
As a volunteer for the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History and an Educational Docent at the Pacific Grove Monarch Grove Sanctuary, I’ve had the chance to give back to the species that have inspired two of my books. You can learn more below!

Luna
Sometime in 2014 I met Luna, Luna and her parents. Luna would roll onto the ground and smile at me. All three were soft spoken. All three emanated sweetness. In the following years, they would see me on the coast monitoring birds and stop to talk to me.
Ben
This morning I decided to go to the beach for a walk with the dogs instead of doing my Sunday ZOOM yoga class with my local yoga teacher. Usually the beach calls me for a reason. I noticed this man standing on a rock looking out at the ocean.
